MondayAssessing Poems-- On Sunday, everyone was supposed to post five poems in the live blog. Find the person who posted AFTER you, and assess their poetry. Choose one or more of the rubrics below. Assess and comment on the poetry. Submit into the dropbox in Blackboard Unit 5, you may do ONE rubric average your responses to all five poems instead of five rubrics, one for each poem.

Analyzing Poetry When asked to analyze or "explicate" a poem, it is a good idea to read the poem several times before starting to write about it (usually, they are short, so it is worth the time). Remember that no one was born reading a book of poetry, but that it is a learned skill that gets easier with practice. When I read a poem for the first time, these are the general steps I follow:
