MondayBook Blog One- Simple Review RecipeTo cook up a good review you will need:
Summary of conflict/complications, no spoilers please. Short description of main characters- protagonists and, if any, antagonists. Mention setting if valuable to the plot. (Like The Hunger Games is in a futuristic, bleak dystopia!) Personal response to the book, what you liked in the writing, what you think the book is about. Finally, why should fellow writers read this book? What kinds of "good" writing do you notice in it? (Wit, good sentences, no boring parts, variety, word choice) TuesdayWednesdayThursdayA note on examples:I will continue to post examples of videocasts, podcasts, and written reviews. Remember you can tips and tricks in workshops, your reviews should be 400-800 words and NO LONGER! You should be able read it aloud in 3-6 minutes.
If you do a video or audio cast- write your script, then record. By the end of the semester, you should have completed at least one multi-media review. Bonus for more. Friday |
